K5-2nd Grade Basketball Program

Our K5–2nd grade program is designed to introduce young players to the foundations of basketball in a fun, supportive, and age-appropriate environment.

Each week, players will work on essential skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting using smaller basketballs and lowered hoops to promote proper form and confidence. With multiple coaches on the court, we’re able to give each child more individual attention and support.

As the season progresses, players will begin participating in intra-squad scrimmages to experience real-game situations in a low-pressure setting. They'll learn the basics of gameplay—such as inbounding the ball, dribbling to the correct basket, and working together as a team.

This program encourages each child to develop at their own pace, gain confidence, and build friendships and mentorships that make the game even more meaningful.

What to Bring – K5–2nd Grade

  1. Basketball: Please bring your own 27.5" ball (youth size).
We do have a limited number of extra balls available in case someone forgets, but not enough for everyone. The youth size ball is better for their small hands and allows for them to work on proper form.
  2. Water Bottle: Bring a labeled water bottle to every practice and scrimmage.
  3. Proper Clothing: Wear athletic clothes and gym shoes that allow for movement and safety on the court.
  4. Proper Gym Shoes: basketball shoes are not necessary at this age.
